USA-based Ugandan artist, producer, and sound engineer Jon Muq, real name Jonathan Mukhwana, says being considered for a Grammy nomination made his head spin.

“Some things leave you speechless. Being considered for these Grammy categories really made my head spin with a big smile. I did not know what it meant, now I do,” Jon Muq wrote on Instagram on Sunday.

Jon Muq’s song ‘Shake Shake’ has been considered for nominations in two categories; Best Americana Performance (Shake Shake) and Best American Roots Song.

The Guitarist is also being considered for nominations in the Best New Artist, and Best Americana Album categories at this year’s Grammy Awards.

Jon Muq calls upon voters to vote for him to realize his dream of being nominated in the respective categories.

Never have I ever imagined being a consideration. Big thanks to everyone that contributed to this consideration stage. If you are a voter your vote means the world so that I can go to the nomination stage.

Known for songs like Bend, One You Love, Flying Away From Home, and Shake Shake among others, Jon Muq was raised on Mutungo Hill, on the outskirts of Kampala.

He moved to the USA aged 24 years old in 2018 to showcase at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival and he has since been based in Austin, Texas.

The 67th annual Grammy Awards will be held on 2nd February 2025 in Los Angeles and Jon Muq hopes to attend as a nominee. We wish him the best of luck!
