President of the Uganda Golf Union, Jackson Were, alongside the Union Secretary, Paul Nuwagaba handed over a variety of golf equipment for children from R&A to representatives of various youth programs.

Among the recipients were the AFRIYEA Golf Academy, a junior golf initiative based in Fort Portal.

This academy operates both school and community programs, aiming to increase young people’s participation in golf while teaching valuable life skills.

Were commended everyone’s efforts toward the national goal of growing the sport.

He emphasized the importance of accountability, urging all recipients to use the donated equipment to further the development of golf in Uganda.

Isaiah Mwesige, founder of the AFRIYEA Golf Academy, praised the Uganda Golf Union for their partnership and the pathways they have created for developing young talent.

Mwesige highlighted the academy’s commitment to not only teaching golf but also imparting life skills, promoting environmental sustainability, and encouraging healthy living.

He expressed confidence that the donation would significantly enhance their ability to meet the equipment needs for training children, helping to expand their programs in schools and communities.

Transparency and accountability are core values of the AFRIYEA Golf Academy, and they look forward to strengthening their relationship with the Uganda Golf Union to further the sport’s growth.

National team player Joseph “Okadda” Cwinya-ai accepted the equipment on behalf of Nsubuga Godfrey and himself.

He thanked the Uganda Golf Union and the R&A for their contributions to the development of golf in Africa.
