Weekend Fixtures: 06/07/2024

  1. Soroti City v ACC – Lugogo
  2. Pioneer v Tornado – Entebbe
  3. Jinja SS v JACC – Jinja

Soroti City will be seeking back-to-back wins in the Women’s T20 League when they take on the rebranded ACC.

ACC make a return to the ladies’ game after a sabbatical and will be counting on the experience of former Victoria Pearls Captain Consy Aweko and her Victoria Pearls teammates Sarah Walaza, Gloria Obukor and Maria Nyende to compete favourably.

The defending champions were able to win against a difficult Jinja SS side last weekend to pick maximum points on the road but will face another test with an unpredictable side.

Obukor and Aweko cross over to ACC from Aziz Damani while Sarah Walaza joins from Wanderers.

Pioneer and Tornado clash at the lakeside oval in Group B action. Pioneer has collaborated with Masaka SS for this season by taking on their school team. That essentially means that the Masaka SS school team will play in the league as Pioneer which is a great benefit for the school. The experience of playing high-quality cricket in the league can only help the girls get better. In a clash of sides that are evenly matched, Ndejje SS is the feeder side for Tornado so there will be a lot of competition amongst the youngsters.

The home sides Jinja SS and JACC will face off with the former the favourite given their experience. The class of Rita Musamali and Stephanie Nampiina should be good enough to get them a result against their hometown rivals.

JACC is packed with students from other schools in Jinja such as St James, Good Heart SS and this should also help them gain experience playing against good competition in the league.
