Should Babies Wear Socks or Booties?
baby booties

We've all been there: you come home with one misplaced sock and a baby with a very chilly foot. Booties are an excellent alternative to socks since they stay on better. KidoFash's baby booties include a hook-and-loop closure and a stay-on style. Booties, like socks, are extremely flexible and soft, allowing for a great deal of flexibility of movement. Baby booties are also quite lovely! They are ideal for newborns traveling in a baby carrier since their delicate feet are frequently exposed, yet socks slide off, and shoes are just too heavy.

Socks may include little non-slip spots, but they are frequently moved to the side, thus baby booties offer an additional advantage: they have a sole. If this is a non-slip sole, it will provide a bit more grip when your baby begins to crawl and cruise. Baby booties are also somewhat thicker than socks, providing greater warmth, which is ideal for fall and winter. Booties, like socks, are frequently constructed of breathable fabric and may be worn all year, especially while newborns are small and learning to control their temperature.

Baby Booties or Shoes?

Baby booties are generally less rigid than shoes, allowing young feet to flex and develop freely.  That being said, if you want a shoe, find one that is soft and flexible that does not limit your baby's feet. KidoFash offers a variety of baby shoes with a beautiful, wide toe region that allows young feet to stretch when they begin to crawl and walk.  Booties are an excellent initial step in getting your child acclimated to wearing anything on their feet.  Babies frequently tug and play with their booties, which is not because they dislike them, but rather out of natural curiosity.

How to choose the best baby booties?

Comfort is the top focus.  They should not limit your baby's feet, and be comfortable to wear.  Most baby booties, including ours, include a cozy fleece lining. This makes them very soft and comfy, making them suitable for newborns. Make sure the fabric is comfortable and breathable.  Cotton is an excellent choice. Also, ensure that any buttons or toggles are properly attached and cannot be removed by small fingers and placed in their mouth.

Fit is key.  Make sure your baby's toes do not curl up at the front and that they have enough room to move. Another thing to look for is if they are adaptable enough to accommodate your child's foot and ankle while still allowing you to properly attach the booties. The broad hole makes them easy to place on your baby's foot.  Baby booties are not your baby's first pair of walking shoes; they are soft and flexible, and they are made to be spacious, making it easier to find the correct fit.  They are more suitable for warmth and protection, as well as adding a little structure, than as a first walking shoe.

Style is entirely up to you. At KidoFash, we offer adorable patterns to pick from. Our booties are made entirely of 100% cotton, which was specifically created for us.  You may select a subtle safari animal pair or a vibrant and vivid dinosaur design. Most booties are ankle boots that remain on, and they usually have a warm lining. They make an excellent choice when out and about.  If you are purchasing booties as a baby shower present, you may want to pick an unisex pattern.  All of our booties are packaged in a drawstring gift bag.

Make your own baby booties!

If you are creative or know someone who is, you could always make or crochet your own pair of booties. There are several designs and directions for doing this. Please ensure that any bows or buttons added to the booties are properly secured, since small fingers like exploring their feet, and these items may easily become choking risks.

Should newborns wear shoes when they start to walk?

Babies should wear shoes when they go outside or on rough terrain.  But inside, barefoot is better for your baby's growing feet. Often, newborns will not accept shoes when they are learning to walk! Again, removing your baby's shoes strengthens their muscles and helps maintain balance, posture, and coordination. If you believe your infant requires a little something extra on their feet, you can wear them baby booties or socks with non-skid soles to prevent slipping when walking indoors.

It's also a good idea to look for your local baby booties dealers or manufacturers.
