Rtn.Erostus Nsubuga Njuki installed as maiden president of Rotary club of Kiwafu Breeze Muyenga focus on fighting sickle cell burden

The incoming maiden president of the Rotary club of Kiwafu Breeze Muyenga Rtn.Erostus Nsubuga Njuki has pledged to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders to achieve their dream plans of setting up a modern state of art mega building to house the Sickle cell treatment clinic at Nsambya hospital.
Nsubuga made the remarks 15th May 2026 at Muyenga in Kampala during their first presidential installation, induction and pinning ceremony of his club as new incoming president of this seven month old youngest club in the history of Rotary club
He said that to serve as charter president of this remarkable club is both a profound honor and a deeply humbling responsibility.
The club was officially chartered in the country in January at Munyonyo by the visiting Rotary International president Francesco Arezzo who urged them to work hard in serving humanity.
He said one of their most defining milestones has been the identification of their signature project which is the construction of a sickle cell clinic at Nsambya hospital which once completed would boost their capacity of carrying out sickle cell testing, awareness advocacy campaigns around the country
Working in partnership with the Uganda sickle cell Rescue foundation [USCRF] ,BMK group of companies, Roofings Ltd, they are committed to delivering services to the vulnerable communities.
He commended Nsambya hospital leadership led by its chief executive officer Dr Andrew Ssekitoleko for donating one acre of land in appreciation for their conserted effort in supporting the fight against sickle cell anemia burden.
Nsubuga thanked DFCU Bank for extending the project funding support worth USD $ 6M saying they are humbled by this unique gesture of trust despite being a seven months old club.
We are grateful to both Nsambya hospital for the land as well as DFCU Bank for funding support worth USD $6m towards the project construction works which is anticipated to kick off in September 2026 with the ground breaking ceremony at Nsambya hospital.
This project Nsubuga noted is their signature flagship project which is the very first of a kind in the country that aims at bringing hope to the millions of victims of the sickle cell anemia burden in the country.
He said much as the ministry of health runs a national sickle cell clinic at old Mulago national referral hospital, it was not enough to cover the large patients clientèle which development enabled them to step in and supplement government efforts
He commended other partners including, Buganda kingdom, BMK group, AGT laboratories Ltd. and Roofings Ltd among others for the support towards this mega project.
The Buganda kingdom 2nd deputy Katikiro and minister of finance Owek.Rtn.Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa commended Nsubuga with team for being the lead champions in curbing the sickle cell anemia burden and pledged to furthermore strengthen collaboration to ensure that the proposed sickle cell disease treatment unit at Nsambya hospital comes to fruition.
The chief guest at the colorful ceremony was the former minister of finance Gerald Sendaula who appreciated the gesture accorded to him saying their strategic plans of pooling resources together to support the fight against sickle cell disease in the country was unmatched which serves as a direct challenge to others to emulate.
