Judiciary holds 9th Benedicto Kiwanuka Memorial Lecture with a Renewed Commitment to the Rule of Law
The 9th annual Benedicto Kiwanuka Memorial Lecture took place on September 16, 2026, at the Judiciary Headquarters in Kampala, Uganda, under the theme “Justice for All: Carrying Forward Benedicto Kiwanuka’s Vision.”

Vice President Jessica Alupo represented President Yoweri Museveni. She emphasized that reflecting on Uganda's history is essential to building a future where justice, peace, and stability reinforce each other.
Chief Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija pictured above, noted that the Head of State's involvement demonstrates Uganda's national commitment to constitutionalism and human rights. Chief Registrar HW Alum Agnes welcomed attendees to reflect on Kiwanuka's enduring contributions.
Main speaker Ms. Margaret Sekaggya commended the Judiciary for maintaining the annual lecture, noting that Kiwanuka's sacrifice leaves a standard of courage that still challenges and shapes Uganda's modern legal institutions.
