Rotarian Daniel Mukasa Ddamulira urges government to strengthen menstrual hygiene education among schools

The government has been challenged to make deliberate effort to strengthen the menstrual hygiene education programme among lower educational institutions by empowering the individual girl child learners through training them to effectively locally produce reusable sanitary pads 

The remarks have been made by the district 9214 governor Rtn Daniel Mukasa Ddamulira while officiating at the multiple launch ceremony for the maiden signature flagship field project activities for the Rotary club of kitende Breeze.

Ddamulira pointed out that the government needs to invest in the health of the population especially children and youth because they are the potential future leaders of tomorrow's world who must be emppwered with knowledge and key health prevention messages as a safeguards.

We need to encourage the government to strengthen systems that aim to empower the girl child menstrual hygiene education among lower education institutions given that majority cannot afford Ushs 3,000 per a pack of sanitary pads

He appreciated the good work being done by the club specifically targeting the vulnerable girl child menstrual hygiene education programme saying government need to emulate the Rotarians by funding the expansion of such projects that impact massive numbers of children 

The day long activities concluded with the launching of the reusable sanitary pads making project for the girl child of Tuzukuke Primary School Kitovu Kitende in Kajjansi Town Council Wakiso District. 

The club members together with the medical teams led by their public relations director also doubling as the 2028/2029 club president nominee Nanziri Ann Mary conducted a practical session were the girls were trained on how to produce the pads using locally improvised clothing materials and conditions of usage

The projects ncluded a mega transformation medical camp were over 2,000 locals received free medical services

Other activities of the day included Village member capacity building sensitization messages about the values of child education, principles of good parenting ,sanitation and hygiene education, promoting culture of health feeding among others. 

The club donated over 1,000 fruit tree seedlings to each patient who attended the camp as a deliberate effort to preserve the environment
