Police release another statement on Bobi Wine’s injury, contradicts claims of shooting

According to a second statement released by Uganda Police, NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu sustained injuries during a confrontation with the Police.

Bobi Wine was on Tuesday left nursing an injured leg while in Bulindo, Wakiso District. The singer-cum-politician claims that he was shot at by police.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Police note that the incident occurred after Bobi and his team carried out an unauthorised procession in Bulindo.

Police claim the procession led to the disrupting of traffic, stoning of officers, and other acts of hooliganism which led to the injuring of three police officers.

The police maintain that during confrontation with Bobi’s team, the singer stumbled after noticing a teargas canister near his car and it resulted into his injury.

During the ensuing altercation, it appears he sustained injuries. Police officers present claimed he stumbled while getting into his vehicle, while Hon. Kyagulanyi and his team maintain that he was shot however, social media has circulated videos showing him appearing to stumble amid apparent tear gas near his car, resulting in his injury.
