NRM Delegates From Nwoya, Amuru, Gulu City East & West, Gulu District, and Omoro Rally Behind Mr. Calvin Echodu for Vice Chairperson Eastern Uganda

In a powerful demonstration of unity and confidence, NRM delegates from Nwoya, Amuru, Gulu City East and West, Gulu District, and Omoro convened at Acholi Inn at 10:00 a.m. to officially endorse Mr. Calvin Echodu for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda. Miss Olok Christine, representing Madam Aber Gifta—the NRM Chairperson of Gulu City—warmly welcomed Mr. Echodu and all attendees, expressing gratitude for their strong turnout and dedication to the party.

Mr. Echodu opened his remarks with sincere appreciation to the leaders and delegates from the Acholi subregion, acknowledging their continued loyalty to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and their active participation in the recent internal elections. He praised their role in sustaining and strengthening the party's foundation.

Though vying for the Vice Chairperson slot representing Eastern Uganda on the Central Executive Committee (CEC), Mr. Echodu emphasized that his ambitions and vision are national. “The strength of our party lies in the unity and wisdom we share across all regions,” he stated, highlighting the importance of national cohesion and a shared purpose in advancing the NRM’s mission.

Central to Mr. Echodu’s speech was his plan to rejuvenate grassroots engagement within the party. He vowed to support emerging leaders, promote inclusive participation at every level, and foster a party culture rooted in listening and action—beyond election seasons. “Our party must not be a party of only elections, but a living movement that listens, includes, and transforms lives,” he declared.

Mr. Echodu underscored his commitment to strengthening ties between Eastern Uganda and other regions, asserting that regional collaboration is key to improving trade, infrastructure, and social harmony. “When Eastern Uganda is stable and productive, the ripple effect touches Northern Uganda and the whole country,” he noted.

As a staunch advocate for youth empowerment, Mr. Echodu pledged to invest in skills training, ideological development, and startup support through structured programs and SACCOS under each league. He aligned this effort with President Museveni’s vision of wealth creation, especially through the Parish Development Model (PDM), calling on local leaders to actively champion its success.

To bridge the gap between party leadership and youth, he proposed the establishment of regional dialogue forums, ensuring regular interaction and mentorship. “If we don’t build the future generation, we are weakening the foundation of our Movement,” he cautioned.

On internal party affairs, Mr. Echodu stressed the importance of effective conflict resolution, particularly in addressing primary election disputes. He called for transparent, fair processes and timely interventions, emphasizing that loyalty to the party includes upholding harmony and truth. “The greatest loyalty to our party is to speak truth and build harmony where confusion threatens our unity,” he affirmed.

In closing, Mr. Echodu assured delegates that if elected, he would remain approachable, responsive, and committed to serving all Ugandans equally. “I may come from Soroti in the East, but I walk with the heart of a Ugandan who believes that no region is greater than the other, and together we rise,” he stated.

His message echoed with themes of hope, unity, and forward-thinking leadership. “The future belongs to those who prepare for it today. Together, let us prepare an NRM that will not just win elections, but win hearts, transform lives, and build a lasting legacy.”

All district chairpersons of Acholi West welcomed Mr. Echodu’s message and pledged their full support for his candidacy. The endorsement event marked not only a pivotal political moment but also a strong symbol of cross-regional solidarity within the ruling party.

The enthusiastic response from delegates suggested that Mr. Echodu’s vision has struck a chord, positioning him as a unifying force and a credible leader ahead of 2026.
