“These webinar series are timely as we witness changing career pathways; it’s essential to equip young people for today and tomorrow’s job market. It’s the combination of hard and soft skills that set individuals apart to foster motivation, collaboration and interconnected digital world,” he said.
The Assistant Commissioner said that the young people in this period will be exposed to a dynamic network of essential skills needed by employers delivered through expert-led interactions, while calling upon all the young people to participate,” he said.
Susan Serumaga from UNICEF Uganda said that young people need the essential skills to supplement the learning they acquire from learning institutions to prepare them for the changing working environment where they will be required to solve various challenges.
“To survive and thrive in the rapidly changing economies, young people need such soft skills to ensure transition to the working environment. Skills such as creativity, adaptability, and communication, among others, will prepare them for the job market and solving community challenges,” she said
