After service as Deputy Governor Bank of Uganda, Michael Atingi-Ego is now the new Governor of the Bank of Uganda bridging a 3 year gap three-year period without a substantive head since the death of Emmanuel Tumusime Mutebile 3 years ago.

Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba, an economist has been appointed as Deputy Governor Bank of Uganda. Prof.  Nuwagaba has held senior roles that include managing consultant at REEV Consult International Limited and various advisory positions with international organizations and a lecturer at Makerere University among others. He has advised institutions like the World Bank, UNDP, and various African governments.

He holds a PhD from Makerere University and an MBA in Monetary Policy and studies at the London School of Economics among other qualifications.

As the newly appointed Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba is expected to bring his wealth of experience and expertise to bear in shaping the country’s economic policies. His appointment is seen as a strategic move, given his background as a seasoned economist and international consultant on economic transformation.

Parliament is expected to review the appointments in the coming weeks as the country looks to reinforce its central banking system.

The appointments have been confirmed by Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Faruk Kirunda.
