USSSA Ball Games 2024 Netball:

Finals (Wednesday, 17th July 2024):

  • St Mary’s Kitende Vs Buddo Secondary School (2:00 PM)
  • At Soroti Main Stadium

Two Wakiso region-based schools St Mary’s Kitende and Buddo Secondary School will lock-horns in the netball final of the 2024 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games 2 in Soroti city.

This grand finale will take place at the Soroti main stadium on Wednesday, 17th July 2024.

On Tuesday, the four quarter final duels and the two semi-finals were played at Teso College Aloet, the host school of these games.

Semi-finals:

To qualify to the final, St Mary’s Kitende overcame a hard-fighting Kawanda Secondary School side 34-28.

The Entebbe road based school was dominant in the first quarter before Kawanda SS gallantly pushed to 14-all stalemate by the half way mark.

Kitende led the third quarter with a five goal margin; 24-19 and won the game with a six goal difference 34-28 thanks to the industriousness of goal-shooter Dalaia Nabbowa and goal-attacker Aisha Nakuya.

Other influential players on the triumphant team were Teopista Achieng (Goalkeeper), Joan Rycoboth (center), Khadala Nashimu (wing defender) and the diligent Nathema Sumaiya (winger attacker).

“We worked so hard as a team with good offense and defensive strategies. We now look forward the final with the target of defending the crown” Nathema revealed moments after the game.

The other semi-final was won by Buddo Secondary School 34-32 over St Noa Girls School Zzana.

Buddo SS led all the four quarters; 9-7, 18-16, 28-25 and 34-32.

Goal shooter Hassan Ponny Faridah contributed a lion’s share of the goals with the other fraction scored by Shamimu Hassan Saidi (goal-attacker).

Anna Naigaga (center), Sheila Nabanda (goalkeeper) and Eveyline Namale (wing attacker) were also impressive for team Buddo SS.

“Making it to the national final after 12 years is no mean feat. Our focus is now to lift the title” Jessy Assimwe, Buddo SS head coach noted.

Quarter finals:

During the quarter finals, St Mary’s Kitende had humbled Green Light SS 28-19, Buddo SS defeated St Joseph Bakhita 27-22, Kawanda overcame St Mathias Kalemba 24-15 and St Noa Girls School Zzana defeated Baptist High School 32-22.

Besides Netball, the 2024 USSSA Ball Games 2 (FEASSSA games qualifiers) also had volleyball, basketball (3X3), handball and athletics.

The official grand climax of these games will be on Wednesday, 17th July 2024 at the Soroti main stadium.
