City Oilers took a 1-0 lead against KIU Titans in game one of the best-of-seven final series in the National Basketball League on Wednesday evening.

The defending champions registered a well-deserved 70-61 victory against KIU Titans in an end-to-end encounter at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

City Oil opened a three-point (19-16) lead against the KIU Rangers at the end of the opening period.

The City Oilers kept accelerating as they extended the lead to eight points (37-29) going into the long break.

Coming from the locker rooms, the KIU Titans found their rhythm, thus reducing their deficit to only one point (51-50) at the end of the third period.

Stanley Mugerwa’s jump shot concluded the game as the KIU Titans trailed by nine points at the end of the period.

Parish Petty (20 points), Malual Dier (15 points), and Fayed Baale (12 points) led the City Oilers’ scoring board with double digits.

In the same breath, Titus Lual pulled down a massive 18-game high rebounds.

Peter Obleng (20 points) and Ivan Lumanyika (10 points) led KIU Titans’ scoring charge in double points, buit’s was not enough to get something positive.
