The professional golfers swung into action for their opening round of the 2024 UGC Ladies open at the par-72 Uganda Golf Club, Kitante in Kampala on Tuesday, 13th August.

Adolf Muhumuza played the most outstanding golf on the day with a 6-under-66 score to lead the rest of the pack.

Muhumuza had 32 on the front nine and finished with 34 at the back as he returned his score card to the club house.

He takes the final 18 holes with a 2 shot lead after Tadeo Rodell Gaita played 4-under 68.

Grace Kasango closely follows with 3 shots adrift the lead after a 3-under 69 score on the opening 18 holes.

Phillip Kasozi was 2-under as two golfers Brian Mwesigwa and Marvin Kibirige played 1-under.

Deo Akope (72), Irene Nakalembe (73), Abraham Ainamani (73), Gerald Kabuye (73) and Fred Wanzala (73) occupy the top 11 positions.

There is still a lot of golf to be played coming to the second and final round on Wednesday, 14th August 2024.

Thirty-eight (38) golfers took part in this tournament whose total kitty is Ug.Shs 10,000,000.

David Kamulindwa was disqualified despite a modest 1-under-71 score on round one.

The professionals’ tournament will be followed by the gross cluster for both men and women before the main championship on Saturday, 17th August 2024.
