KCCA Leopards secured a well-deserved 71-63 victory over KIU Rangers in the National Basketball League at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday.
The Leopards returned to winning ways after losing to Miracle Ravens in their previous game.
The Leopards edged the opening quarter with a narrow 17-16 lead. By halftime, the game remained tightly contested, with KCCA maintaining just a one-point advantage.
KIU Rangers took control in the third quarter, as Stella Nafunka’s buzzer-beating jump shot gave them a 52-50 lead heading into the final period.
However, the Leopards rallied in the closing minutes. With 41 seconds left, Sharua Nakirya sank a crucial three-pointer, extending KCCA’s lead to eight points and igniting the crowd.
Peruth Nyamwenge, Margaret Bagaala, and Susan Rebecca Aanyu led the Leopards in scoring with 13 points each.
Sharon Kirabo and Ines Kanyamunyeza each contributed 15 points for the Rangers, while Stella Nafunka added 10.
