The most popular sport in the entire world, football continues to make giant strides wherever it is played across all countries, Uganda inclusive.
At the 2024 UMEA Solidarity Games’ menu, football is unquestionably the leading sport, one that pulls off the biggest crowds and attention.
On day one of the games in Masaka city, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School took the headlines for the right purpose, scoring most goals in either gender.
As Kawempe Muslim’s girls team scored for fun, their boys’ counterparts also had a field day at office, scoring 11-0 over Kisaana SS in group A.
The Kawempe Muslim team had lost 0-1 to Kyadondo SS. Bulo Parents humiliated Kisaana SS 8-0.
Other high scoring games on match day one witnessed Madinah Islamic whip a hapless Wamatovu Muslim 11-1 in group H, Kasawo SS humble Kinaawa Kawempe 8-0 (group C) and Kibuli SS pumpel Mbirizi Seed 5-0.
Football action will continue on Saturday through Easter Sunday with the final coming on Easter Monday.
Bar football (boys and girls), the UMEA Solidarity Games’ menu also has Volleyball (boys and girls), Handball (boys and girls), Netball (girls only), Table Tennis and Badminton.
Over the years, the UMEA Solidarity Games have provided that viable platform for Islam faith founded schools to nurture talents as they also prepare for other USSSA games as ball games 1 and 2.
