Match day three pf the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers continued on Thursday with five matches across Africa.

Guinea, in Group G that also has Uganda stunned hosts Algeria away from home with a 2-1 victory that takes them joint top with the Desert Foxes.

The Syli Nationale who now move to six points, same as Algeria on match day three got the goals through Mortaye Sylla in the 50th minute and Aguibou Camara in the 63rd minute.

Algeria’s next game is on Monday when they travel to Kampala to face Uganda Cranes who are in action against Botswana on Friday at the revamped Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

Elsewhere, Ghana beat hosts Mali 2-1 in Bamako in a fixture they were totally dominated but got the three points in Group I.

Veteran forward Jordan Ayew scored the winner in additional time to stun the home crowd.

DR Congo picked a vital point away to African champions Senegal with a late equaliser in a match that ended 1-1.

Fiston Mayele scored the goal that cancelled out an early strike from Ismail Sarr.

In the other matches, Benin’s held on to an important 1-0 win over Rwanda in a result that blew Group C wide open. The Result sees Benin tied on points with Rwanda who still occupy first position ahead of the big clash between Nigeria and South Africa on Friday in Uyo.

Micho’s Libya continued their good form under the Serbian with a 2-1 win over Mauritius in Group D, Egypt took control of Group A with a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso thanks to a brace from Mahmood Trezeguet, Guinea Bissau were held goalless by Ethiopia in the same group while Sudan stunned hosts Mauritania beating the hosts 2-0 and the Flames of Malawi overcame Sao Tome e Principe 3-1 in Group H.
