GoldStar Insurance Marks 30 Years of Service with Major Push into AI and Digital Transformation
GoldStar Insurance Company Limited has officially celebrated 30 years of operations in Uganda under its anniversary theme, “30 Years. One Promise.” Founded in 1995 as part of the Ruparelia Group, the company has grown into one of the country's leading general insurance providers, specializing in motor, property, engineering, and personal risk solutions.
The corporate milestone was commemorated with a celebratory event at the Kabira Country Club, attended by key company executives including Chief Technical Officer Ronald Musoke, Andrew Kawuzi, and COMESA Coordinator Daisy Nantume Bbemba among others.
The 30th-anniversary milestone highlights include: The re-affirmation of their financial strength through the recent GCR Ratings bof AA(UG) national-scale financial strength indicating a stable outlook, reflecting its strong capitalization, sound liquidity, and reliable claims-paying ability.
Community & Environmental Impact:
In partnership with My Tree Initiative Uganda and local Rotary Clubs, the company launched its anniversary campaign by planting 150 fruit and indigenous trees at Kira Primary School in Wakiso District.
Digital Innovation:
The company continues to advance its digital capabilities by introducing the Goldstar Insurance Co. Ltd Claims App, designed to streamline and accelerate the claims-reporting process for policyholders.
John Kawuma, Chief Executive Officer of GoldStar Insurance—currently ranked as one of Uganda’s top five insurance companies—emphasized that the strategic shift is a direct response to a growing customer demand for faster, more convenient, and innovative services.
"Our commitment is to invest more in digital insurance solutions and other technologies that can help us respond to the changing needs of our customers," said Kawuma. He highlighted that the company's core focus areas will include upgrading digital insurance platforms, modernizing enterprise management systems, building AI capabilities, empowering human resources, and strengthening cybersecurity frameworks.
Aligning with management's vision, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors, pledged the board's continuous financial commitment toward integrating these advanced tech tools.
Dr. Ruparelia noted that adopting digital and AI-powered infrastructure is critical for expanding the company's market reach to young people. This demographic increasingly relies on and expects instantaneous, digitally-delivered services.
