Deco Mutebi, Gaita maintain lead, 19 other professionals make cut after round 2 | Pearl of Africa Golf Series 2025

It was survival for the fittest during round two of the second leg of the 2025 Pearl of Africa Golf Series at the par-71 lake side Entebbe club on Thursday, 3rd April.
After the 36 holes, 20 successful professionals make the treasured cut to march onto the next two rounds.
These twenty professionals will partake of the Ug.Shs 20,000,000 prize kitty, staked by the organizers of the series.
Overnight leader from round one Herman Deco Mutebi maintained his grip on the summit with a 2-under-69 gross mark to counter his opening day 3-under-68 score.

He is level with Tadeo Rodell Gaita who scored 2-under-69 on day one and 3-under-68 on the subsequent round.
Mutebi who is sponsored by Numax Cinemas endured a nervy start where he had three consecutive par scores on the first holes before a grey patch with a double bogie on the dog-legged par-4 hole 4.
He resumed with pars on hole 5 and 6 before a birdie on 7, pars on 8 and 9 to complete the front course level.
Mutebi then crossed over with a scratch on par-3 hole 10, successive birdies on 11 and 12 before an eye-catching eagle on the par-4 hole 13. His day was completed with safety play, having pars on 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18.
“Having led day one, I approached day two with caution” Mutebi, a former footballer spoke of the strategy.
“Even after a double bogie on hole 4, I said to myself, I can make it. The Eagle at the back nine gave me the hope. Let us see how the remaining two rounds go by” he added.
