Daily Kos endorses Kamala Harris for president

President Joe Biden acted with unprecedented selflessness when he announced on Sunday that he would no longer run for reelection. His announcement has reset the race and given Democrats a fresh chance in the final three-and-a-half months of this campaign. His vice president is best positioned to take advantage of that opportunity. That’s why Biden endorsed her less than half an hour after saying he would drop his bid. This is an extraordinary time, but the path to victory in November is clear: Daily Kos is excited to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president in 2024. Imagine our great nation finally electing a woman—and a Black and Asian American woman at that! Holy crap, that gets me excited, and hopefully, it gets you excited too! We are going to have something real to fight for: the major accomplishments of the Biden-Harris administration and a ground-breaking candidate as well. Embedded Content Harris already has the support of Biden. And the Clintons. And the chairs of the major House caucuses. The campaign committee has already changed its name to “Harris for President,” giving Harris a $91 million head start on any potential Democratic challenger. It’s ludicrous to think that anyone else would try to make a go of it. In fact, some of the biggest names that have been floated as possible challengers are begging off—and some have already explicitly endorsed her. The choice is clear.  Uniting around Kamala Harris It’s been a rocky several weeks for the Democratic Party, but it is now imperative that we unite. It’s time to stop the “Democrats in disarray” headlines the media so loves and get back to the most important goal: defeating Donald Trump and saving our democracy. And that’s exactly what Harris has promised to do: I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party—and unite our nation—to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda. We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win. If you’re angry about the way Biden was shoved aside, I see you. I agree with you. And I promise you, the hero’s welcome and send-off Biden will receive at the Democratic National Convention will help us heal. Just the thought of it makes me tear up. But we don’t have the luxury of time to properly grieve. We must focus on the fight ahead. We’re about to hit some stormy seas, no way around it. This is a historical event in the middle of an already chaotic campaign. It is our job to focus on the work we need to do: organizing to make history. Imagine a Black woman ending Trump’s career once and for all. Could there be any better poetic justice? If nothing else, that would be enough motivation for me.
