The CECAFA U-20 championship is around the corner and the different countries are polishing up their respective squads.

South Sudan is among the countries that will take part in the tournament that will be hosted by Tanzania.

Towering forward Peter Chut Santos Aparer is among the players on the provisional team that will soon be trimmed for the final tournament.

Santos is stationed in Uganda where he is schooling at Royal Giant High School Mityana.

He has expressed the readiness for the tournament which kicks off this Sunday, 6th October 2024.

‘’I am more than ready to represent my country of birth (South Sudan). We have been training well and all is well. We are all set” Santos disclosed to Kawowo Sports.

Santos was born on 5th February 2006 in the South Sudan town of Rumbek to Aparer Chut and Christina Nyanabyei.

His parents moved to settle in Uganda and Santos has virtually played his entire football career in Uganda.

He was part of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Soccer Academy for the period 2017 to 2019.

Since 2022, he was on the South Sudan underage team and was part of the South Sudan U-20 national team that lost 1-2 to Uganda Hippos (Uganda U-20 national football team) in Khartoum city during the final of the 2022 CECAFA U-20 championship.

He also played for the South Sudan U-20 team in the AFCON U-20 tournament in Egypt last year.

The South Sudan U-20 team is coached by Felix Bilal, assisted by Lim Hung Se.
