American Chamber of Commerce Uganda to host inaugural golf open at Serena Kigo

The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Uganda will host the first ever golf event on Saturday, 12^th October 2024 at the picturesque Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa

This day-long championship will be for both the juniors and adults, that shall be played on a medal format.

“The tournament shall present a unique opportunity for both experienced golfers and newcomers to come together for a fun and engaging day on the green.” Remarked Eve Zalwango, the general manager of AmCham Uganda as she addressed the media at the Marina of the facility.

Zalwango confirmed that all the 66 members of the American Chamber of Commerce Uganda will take part as well as teams of the different sponsors and all the diplomatic missions (Cohorts) in Uganda.

This event offers participants the perfect setting to network, share experiences, and create lasting connections within the Ugandan and international business community, all in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

For those new to golf, there are on-site golf clinics, providing a fantastic opportunity to learn the basics and begin your journey in the sport.

“Whether you are aiming to perfect your swing or take your first steps into golf, the AmCham Golf Open is the ideal event to be part of. We pray that every year, it will become bigger and better. As the Chamber, we are very proud to be associated with sport with members and non-members.” Zalwango added.

The main organizer of this event is the American Chamber of Commerce Uganda.

They are joined by a wide range of partners as Coca Cola Beverages Uganda, Crowe, Grant Thornton, Marsh, Sheraton Kampala Hotel, Stanbic Bank, Side B, Motorcare, Rim Uganda, Life Care Diagnostics, Brussels Airlines, Ruby Hospital, Latitude 0^o among others.

Les Brown, the tournament manager noted that the mode of play will be medal with the juniors scoring gross and net for the adults

“All preparations are on-going with the tournament in high gear. The mode of play will be medal. There will be prizes will be given out to all groups A, B and C with side bets as nearest to the pin and longest drive.” Brown stated.

Besides the prizes (trophies, medals and plaques), there is business class ticket to any Europea destination that will be won by the outstanding golfer on the day.

“This is a great opportunity to associate with the golfing family. We are offering a business class ticket for a European destination.  We plan to network and get involved in more sponsorships of golf events” Belinda Ssebunya, the head of marketing at Brussels Airlines noted.

Theodore Van Rooyen, the Director of Golf, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa hailed the introduction of the juniors’ section to play alongside the corporates.

“The introduction of the juniors’ section in a corporate golf setting is a welcome move. The course is in pristine state and the golfers will enjoy every shot, chip, drive and putt” Van Rooyen remarked.

By and large, as many as 250 golfers and guests are expected on the 12^th October 2024 at this golf tournament.

For starters, the American Chamber of Commerce Uganda’s role is to push for policy, do business, connect investments between Uganda and the United States of America (USA).
