There is excitement prior to the 31st edition of the coronation anniversary of Buganda Kingdom King Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

A golf championship is one of the activities ear-marked to celebrate the momentous anniversary at the par-72 Uganda Golf Club, Kitante in Kampala.

A total of eighty caddies engaged in the day long tournament for the game’s unsung heroes and heroines for 18 holes.

Of these, were sixty-eight men and twelve females in action that commenced in the morning before the mid-day heavy down disrupted play that was put on halt.

As the skies cleared, action resumed until slight drizzles to complete the action with most caddies shielding under umbrellas.

The caddies championship will be followed by the professionals who will play over two days.

The first day of the professionals will come on Thursday, 25th July 2024 for 18 holes and the final 18 holes will be completed on the subsequent day.

The professional kitty is Ug.Shs 13,000,000 (Thirteen million Uganda shillings) and the prestigious Kabaka Green Jacket for the overall winner.

The main Coronation open shall be held on Saturday, 27th July 2024 at the course named after the famous Kitante stream.

The main theme of the coronation golf tournament is “Men leading the fight against HIV/AIDS to save the girl child”.
