The annual Kabaka Coronation Anniversary Golf tournament has been revitalized this year.
Marking the 31st edition of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s coronation anniversary, this golf event has been categorized in four series.
The children alongside their parents, caddies, professionals as well as the amateurs (gross and other bigger handicap players) will all be in action.
This package was officially revealed on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 during a special briefing by the Buganda Kingdom minister of sports, youth and the arts, Owek. Ssalongo Robert Sserwanga at Bulange, Mengo.
“We have repackaged the Kabaka Coronation golf tournament with four series this year starting with the children and their parents, caddies, the professionals and the amateurs” Owek. Sserwanga noted.
The minister also confirmed the main committee of seven members that will steer the entire organization of this tournament.
“To ensure the smooth running of the 2024 Kabaka Coronation golf tournament, a strong seven man committee has been appointed. These have the powers to co-opt any other members for great service delivery” Owek. Sserwanga added.
The committee has Sam Lugonvu Mubiru, the captain of Buganda Golfers Association (BUGA), David Ssekitoleko (the manager of Uganda Golf Club), former captain of Uganda Golf Club Emmanuel Wamala, female golf professional Evah Magala, Gertrude Kityo, seasoned events’ organizer Paul Kaheru and the Buganda Kingdom Principal Sports Officer, Hannington Musoke.
The series:
It is a full package for the 31st Kabaka Coronation anniversary golf tournament, commencing with the parents and children event on Sunday, 21st July 2024.
Golf unsung heroes and heroines; the caddies are also in the mix with their own tournament on Monday, 22nd July 2024.
This will be followed by the professionals who will play 36 holes on Thursday, 25th July 2024 and on the subsequent day.
The professionals kitty is Ug.Shs 13,000,000 as well as the prestigious Kabaka green jacket for the overall winner.
“The professionals will play 36 holes over 2 rounds for Ug.Shs 13,000,000 and these will also fight for the Kabaka Green Jacket that the winner will take” Mubiru clarified.
The series will climax on Saturday, 27th July 2024 with the main championship that will have all the amateur golfers in action; gross and bigger handicap players for both gender.
At least 500 golfers will be involved in all the series as golfers, sponsors, well-wishers and other partners are rallied upon to join the tranquil organization.

The theme of the tournament is men taking the lead in the fight against HIV/AIDS to protect the girl child.
