Wakiso Giants overcome Mbale Heroes in relegation six-pointer
Wakiso Giants FC were victorious on Saturday against fellow relegation candidates Mbale Heroes FC at the Mbale City Stadium.
In a game that pitted two teams in the drop zone, the Purple Sharks emerged 1-0 victors. The win put a half to their 18-game winless run in the League.
The last time, Wakiso Giants picked up three points in the League was on 27th September 2024 and coicedentally it came against Mbale Heroes in the reverse fixture.
Today, the lone goal of the game came from defender Timothy Oyamo to hand the Purple Sharks only their third win of the campaign.
The result gives Wakoso Giants hope in their fight against relegation with eight games to the end of the season.
In 14th place on 17 points, Steven Bengo’s charges are just six points behind Police FC who are just above the drop zone.
Mbale Heroes FC on the other hand remain rooted at the base of the pile with just 10 points.
