BUL hand KCCA back-to-back defeats despite coaching changes

Result

  • KCCA 1-2 BUL

BUL remained unbeaten in the second round with a hard fought 2-1 victory over hosts KCCA at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo on Saturday.

Joel Kiirya and Karim Ndugwa scored the goals for the visitors while KCCA’s consolation was scored by substitute Ashraf Mugume.

Kiirya put the visitors in the lead in the 29th minute capitalizing on a mistake by goalie Mustafa Mugolofa before Ndugwa sealed the victory with an 84th minute striker after being teed up by substitute Isaac Musiima.

Mugume pulled one back for KCCA with virtually the last kick of the game as KCCA suffered back-to-back defeats despite sacking coach Abdallah Mubiru a day to the game.

Interim coach Jackson Magera employed a slightly defensive approach with two anchormen in Joel Sserunjogi and Peter Magambo but shuffled his pack after the break substituting Benjamin Ochan for an attack minded Mugume as Magambo shifted to centre back.

KCCA were the better side in the second half with numerous attacks on BUL’s goal but Joel Mutakubwa and his backline were equal to the task when called upon.

BUL remain 3rd on the table with 42 points while KCCA remain 6th with 34 points with seven matches remaining to end the season.

The next task at hand for Abbey Kikomeko’s men will be a home duel against Police while KCCA travel to Hamz stadium, Nakivubo to face URA.
