VICTORIA UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES INSTITUTION-WIDE AI TRAINING FOR ALL EMPLOYEES

KAMPALA — Victoria University has officially started a campus-wide AI training program. The university aims to bring every staff member into the digital age. 

This training is not just for tech experts or lecturers. It includes customer service teams, admission assistants, drivers, and cleaners.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga stated that every worker has a role in the university's digital journey. The goal is to solve daily problems using smart technology and improve the overall student experience.

The Initiative entails the following components: 

• Universal Access: Training covers all roles, ensuring no department is left behind.

• Practical Tools: Sessions introduced tools like AI Studio, Gemini Notebook, and non Automation.

• Expert Facilitation: Technology expert and AI investor Tim Abels led the training sessions.

• Student Impact: Better-equipped staff create a smarter, more tech-ready environment for learners.

Dr. Lawrence Muganga the Vice Chancellor said that"From the Vice Chancellor and senior leadership to our customer service teams, admission assistants, student success champions, drivers and cleaners, everyone is part of this journey. When our staff understand AI and become comfortable using it, that knowledge finds its way into the classroom and into student support."

Meanwhile Julius Buchana the Corporate and Public Affairs Manager highlighted that: "Once they learn the skills and have them implemented in their daily operations, we well know that the ripple effect is going to be big to our students."

The facilitator of the session Tim Abels said : "You need to work a hundred times smarter." He also encouraged students to build AI clubs and pursue practical entrepreneurship while studying.
