That Is Total Nonsense!! Kadaga Denies Eyeing M7 Seat in 2026 Ahead Of Her Tomorrow's Home Coming Event

The Office of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, has issued a strong denial regarding claims that she plans to run for president in Uganda’s upcoming general elections.
According to a press statement signed by Bishop Samuel, Kadaga’s Press Secretary, a false poster circulating on social media suggesting she intends to contest the presidency is completely fabricated. The office describes the spread of this misinformation as the work of “unscrupulous and ill-mannered individuals” who aim to mislead the public.
Kadaga herself “categorically” stated that she has no intention of standing for the presidency in the forthcoming elections. She emphasized that her focus remains on her re-election campaign as the Woman Member of Parliament for Kamuli District.
The office urged the public and media to rely only on official communications regarding Kadaga’s political plans. Any claims or posters suggesting otherwise should be treated with the contempt they deserve, the statement said.
Speculations about Kadaga running for president are not new. During her time as Speaker of Parliament, rumors frequently circulated that she was preparing for a presidential bid, but none of them ever materialized.
Political analysts note that Uganda’s current President, Yoweri Museveni, who has led the country for over 40 years, has not publicly hinted at retirement. This makes any presidential contest within the ruling party highly sensitive. Kadaga, analysts say, is a seasoned politician who understands the risks of challenging her longtime comrade and party leader.
The caution is informed by past events. From 2014 to 2016, former Prime Minister and NRM Secretary General Amama Mbabazi attempted to challenge Museveni’s authority. Despite being powerful and influential, Mbabazi was quickly isolated and ultimately lost his political clout.
Mbabazi eventually ran as an independent under the Go Forward ticket but only managed 136,519 votes. Most of his allies deserted him, and he faced isolation within political circles. This serves as a cautionary tale for politicians like Kadaga who might consider challenging the party’s top leadership.
Pundits say Kadaga is unlikely to risk her political career by opposing Museveni, having learned from the experiences of those who miscalculated before her. Her approach is described as careful, strategic, and informed by history.
For now, Kadaga is firmly concentrating on her role in Parliament and her upcoming homecoming event. Her statement sends a clear message: the presidential rumors are false, and she remains loyal to her current political path, focusing on serving her constituents in Kamuli.
