Uganda’s promising 10-year-old Table Tennis sensation Joseph Sebatindira has been invited for the a special rising stars training camp in Halmstad city, Halland county, Sweden.

This training camp will officially commence on 29th May and climax by 4th June 2024.

Sebatindira is the youngest of the lot and the only invited player from the African continent for this high profile camp.

There are twenty players in total for the camp; ten boys and girls apiece.

Among the boys include; Miroslav Schmidt (Bulgaria), Emanuel Otalvaro (Colombia), Dafi Putra (Indonesia), Shakiba Faraz (Iran), Danilo Faso (Italy), Al Taher Abdulrahman (Saudi Arabia), Steven Moreno (Puerto Rico), Rios Enrique (Puerto Rico), Ocal Gorkem (Turkey) and Uganda’s Joseph Sebatindira.

The girls’ cluster has Hanka Kodetova (Czech Republic), Ivanna Medranda (Ecuador), Nina Guo Zheng (France), Josephina Neumann (Germany), Yavari Vanya (Iran), Fani Jovanoska (North Macedonia), Ayumi Moryiami (New Zealand), Loy Ming Ying (Singapore), Kulapassr Vijitviriyagul (Thailand) and Tashiya Piyadasa (United States of America).

After the high performance training camp, the youngsters will engage in two World Table Tennis Youth championships in Europe.

The first one will smash off in Sweden’s city of Helsinborg (from 5th – 8th June 2024) .

This will be followed by the second tournament in Norway, Sandefjord (from 10th – 13th June 2024).

Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) president Robert Jjagwe is humbled by this opportunity.

“We take this opportunity to greatly thank our colleagues in International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) who have extended this great opportunity to our star player (Joseph Sebatindira)” Jjagwe remarks.

Meanwhile, the ITTF also extended financial support to a tune of $4,000 (at least Ug.15, 000,000) to help Sebatindira in his career development by easing the attendance of the World Table Tennis youth events.
