St Mary’s Kitende registered a 7-0 victory against Light Academy in the final of the USSSA Kitende Zonal Games at St Mary’s Stadium on Monday.
A less star-studded Kitende was ruthless on the day in a one-sided encounter in front of their loud home crowd.
The Congolese forward Claude opened the scoring with a well-weighted header in the second minute of the game.
Santos Agok was lethal on the day scoring a hat trick opening his tally in the 16th minute with a simple tap-in.
After failing to convert a number of challenges Yiga got his name on the score sheet after he fully stretched to connect with Samuel Mubiru’s low delivery in the 22nd minute.
Three minutes later, Santos extended Kitende’s lead to four holding onto the advantage into the break.
Coming into the second stanza, Light Academy looked more settled, weaving a number of passes, something that was not witnessed in the first half.
Ten minutes into the second half, Santos completed his hat trick with a rebound after Light Academy’s custodian had earlier stopped Yigga’s initial effort.
Second half substitute Olimi Nyarwa fired home a beautiful strike after Leonard Kasanya had done the dirty work leaving Light Academy helpless.
Provider turned into scorer as Kasanya sealed the emphatic win with yet another powerful strike from outside the box.
In the other semi-final, Kajjansi Progressive took an early lead before Light High Seguku fought from a goal down to secure a 3-1 victory.
It will be a repeat of the finals for last year as Light High Seguku face off defending champions Kitende on Wednesday, March 27.
