St. Peter Claver Mulago Catholic community steps forward to support parish development projects

The Bishop of catholic Diocese of Lira Rt.Rev.Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok says the Christians of respective communities have the responsibility of raising funds to support their projects because they remain the potential consumers of those facilities and services. 

He particularly commended the Christians of St Peter Claver Mulago Catholic community for supporting the proposed adoration Chapel construction project by launching a fundraising drive which raised Ushs 20m an initiative that all must emulate.

The UGX 100m project is meant to support the church evangelization campaign, offering counselling services to the Christian community and empowering youth with faith based information which can contribute to strengthening their moral and spiritual nourishment mission 

He made the remarks over the weekend as main celebrant for the community's annual patron Saint Day celebrations held at the Mulago Catholic parish Kawempe division.

The colorful ceremony themed "You Will Be My Witness " [Acts 1:8] commrnced with holy mass leading into a fundraising drive which raised Ushs 20m cash and pledges towards the construction of the signature parish adoration Chapel project.

He congratulated the community's participation and journeying together in mission as a family of whom he viewed as cosmopolitan because they are all different tribes cultures, and backgrounds, yet have come together as one family of God,united in solidarity with an Apostolate that touches the heart of the church. 

He observed that as then Bishop of Nebbi Diocese in 2012 this community began the ministry of organising mass weddings which begun as a small seed planted in Nebbi later growing into a mighty tree that yielded uncounted fruits as thousands of couples regularized their marriages through holy matrimony.

He narrated how this fire cut across all the nineteen Dioceses of Uganda 

The St. Peter Claver community Mulago parish chairperson Acom Victor Nalutaaya praised the Bishop for his visitation to their memorable occasion saying his presence strengthened their faith and brings freshness to their connectivity and memories right from the time he was Bishop of Nebbi Diocese though now serves Lira Diocese 

Acom said their community's evangelization crusades covering all the 19 Catholic Dioceses yielded into the formalisation of over 6,000 mass marriages into holy matrimony spreading into DR Congo and Kenya respectively. 

She commended all their senior pioneer founders that passed away Including Lt

Col.Pius Alitema and Martin Sempa among others for being instrumental in building strong pillars in pushing their evangelization and mass holy matrimony crusade

The Mulago catholic parish priest Fr OkwoiRwoth Angelo congratulated the st Peter Claver community upon reaching this milestone of carrying out strategic community cantered projects and programmes dedicated at improving the livelihoods of the Christian fraternity across the country through respective Dioceses. 

We celebrate this great milestone achievement exhibited by the St Peter Claver Mulago Catholic community fraternity specifically being instrumental in supporting the parish projects development programs through resources mobilization campaigns including the construction of the Ushs 600m parish priests residency and the proposed Chapel construction project which requires Ushs 100m to complete.

Hon Catherine Mavengina from parliament contributed UGX 5m towards the adoration Chapel project.

She pointed out that as a Catholic community member from Northern Uganda she was humbled to be part of this God's house project which would be responsible for recruiting and counselling youth through imparting Christian moral values and strategic family counselling and mentorship support services aimed at empowering households overcome family domestic violence incidents.
