Angel Secures First Record As A Rookie

The Chi Barbie secured 16 points and 18 rebounds, passing Cindy Brown and Tina Charles for the most consecutive games with double-doubles by a rook. Retired WNBA player Candace Parker holds the overall record for the most consecutive doube-doubles in the WNBA at 12. She earned her record during the 2009-10 season. Parker played for the Sky for two seasons as her career came to a close.

The forward told the outlet, “It’s super exciting for myself.” She added that she attempts “…to give [herself] some grace and tell [herself she’s] doing a good job.” However, she said, “I have so much more to grow, and I’m just excited to be in this league.”

Reese took the record and the win during the Chicago Sky versus Dallas Wings game on June 20. The Windy City team won 83-72. Angel is averaging 10.8 rebounds per game and is the second-leading rebounder behind A’ja Wilson.

The former LSU player said, “…I just want to do whatever it takes to win, and rebounding is what I do to win.”

Social Media Reacts To Reese’s Achievement

Roommates under The Shade Room’s report shared their feelings about the rookie’s first record.

@jadajewelss wrote, “The Chi-Twon Barbie!!!! We gotta celebrate our own, Cause they ain’t gon do it!!!!!”
“Give my girl her CREDITT SHE DESERVES THIS AND MORE. LETS GO ROOKIE OF THE YEAR,” @nikkiiibaeee said.
Another Roomie suggested that Angel’s star power is the reason Caitlyn Clark gained notoriety.
@adriannaa.n said, “People need to acknowledge that yes, Caitlyn is great, But nobody was talking about her until angel did that lil thing in her face and it went viral.”
Reese was chosen 7th in the 2024 WNBA draft and hit her 7th straight double-double to secure the record. That just maybe your lucky number, girl!
