Joe Biden Speaks At Black Church To Gain Support Amid Criticism To Step Down

On Sunday, Biden attended Mount Airy Church of God in Christ in northwest Philadelphia to encourage supporters to stay unified. Questions are intensifying about whether he is capable of running the country for a second term.

As he spoke from a stage in the sanctuary adorned with stained-glass windows, Joe joked, “I know I look 40,” but “I’ve been doing this a long time.” President Biden reportedly added, “I, honest to God, have never been more optimistic about America’s future if we stick together.”

Democrats Call For Joe Biden To Hand Over Democratic Ticket For Presidency

Several Democratic lawmakers are coming for the sitting president as he attempts to gain reelection. His team anticipates that more politicos will speak out against him in the coming days as Congress reconvenes. While the lawmakers are gathered, they will have an opportunity to chat about their concerns about Biden. Many have expressed concerns that he may be unable to withstand four more months of the campaign, let alone four more years in the White House. Furthermore, they are unsure if he will be able to beat Republican former President Donald Trump.

AP reports Alan Clendenin, a Tampa city councilman and member of the Democratic National Committee, said on Sunday that he would like the president to “step aside and allow Vice President Kamala Harris to carry forward his agenda as our Democratic nominee.”

Democrats Have Not Completely Abandoned Biden

However, there are still Democrats supporting the Commander in Chief. Barry Goodman, a Michigan attorney, revealed on Sunday that he still backs Biden, but if the president should step aside, he would support Kamala.  “We don’t have much time. I don’t think the president gets out. But if he does, I think it would be Kamala,” Goodman stated.

Mount Airy pastor Louis Felton fully supports America’s current leader in his bid for a second term. “Never count Joseph out,” he advised his congregation. He likened the president to Joseph, who had the “coat of many colors” in the Bible. In the story, the man was sold into slavery in Egypt by his jealous brothers, but he eventually obtained a high place in the pharaoh’s kingdom.  His brothers later begged him for assistance without initially recognizing him.

“That’s what’s going on, Mr. President. People are jealous of you,” the pastor said. “Jealous of your stick-to-itiveness, jealous of your favor. Jealous of God’s hand upon your life.”

He told the church members, “Let him know we are with him!”
