Over 3,514 students to be conferred at Kampala University’s 23rd graduation ceremony this week.
Kampala University (KU) (original) will hold its 23rd Graduation Ceremony on Thursday April 23, 2026, at the Ggaba Main Campus, starting at 8:00 AM. The ceremony’s guests will witness over 3,514 being conferred in various disciplines with degrees, diplomas, and certificates presided over by the Universitty Chancellor Prof. George Mondo Kagonyera and broadcast live on BBS Terefayina
The theme of the graduation is: “Empowering a new generation: AI, Innovation, and Sustainable Development” with Prof. Maggie Kigozi as the Chief Guest.
During the press conference held on Monday 20th April 2026 at the campus ahead of the main graduation ceremony, The Founding Vice Chancellor, Al-haj. Prof Badru Dungu Katerega highlighted that the ceremony will also celebrate other milestones celebrations including the marking 27 years of the university, celebrating the 12 alumni elected in Parliament, the 7th graduation of the Kampala University School of Nursing and Health Science based at Mutundwe among others.
“The occasion not only celebrates the academic achievements of our students but also marks 27 years of Kampala University’s distinguished contribution to higher education, research, innopvation and servies to humanity cross the region and beyond” he said

He said that the graduands will be drawn from different countries having studies in the different campuses of KU such as Ggaba main campus, Mutundwe, Luweero, Jinja and Masaka campuse, from a diversity of nationalities including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burindi, Somalia, South Sudan, Nigeria among others.
Al-haj Badru called upon government to to strengthen collaboration with universities to advance innovation.
“The government should deliberate steps and measures to identify, nurture and invest in theses innovations, proving funding, policy support and platforms to scale them into solutions that benefit the nation” he said
Kampala Uganda has over 8 campuses spread across Uganda and the Eastern Africa region in various displines.
