From Village Church Boy To Riches & Luxurious Life, This Is What He Did

My name is Samuel Muwonge, born and raised in a small village near Lwengo District, Uganda. Growing up, I was known as the “church boy” because I spent most of my childhood in church activities, helping pastors, singing in the youth choir, and doing all the small things that made me feel close to God.

People in my village believed I would become a pastor one day. But even with all the faith and prayer I had, life treated me harshly. Nothing I touched ever succeeded. I remained broke, struggling, and stuck in the same place for many years.

After finishing school, I moved to Masaka Town to look for work. I tried everything—being a shop attendant, selling second-hand clothes, doing boda boda—but nothing worked. Every business I started collapsed quickly, even when I put all my energy and savings into it.

While my old school friends were progressing in life, I remained stuck in the same circle of poverty. People started mocking me, saying, “Even church boys suffer nowadays.” Their words hurt me deeply, but there was nothing I could do. It was like life had locked all my doors.

Things got worse when I realized that even opportunities that were meant for me always went to someone else at the last minute. I watched people with less experience get jobs I qualified for. I watched small deals slip out of my hands for no reason.

Even relationships failed without explanation. I used to pray hard, asking God why my life was like this. I started to believe maybe poverty was my destiny. I lost hope, confidence, and peace.
