“From Salon Chair to Senior Government Role: Janet’s Inspiring Journey in Uganda”

My name is Janet, and I come from Entebbe, Uganda. When people see me today working as a senior government official, they often assume my path was easy, but the reality is quite different. My journey started in a small salon where I worked as a hairdresser. Life was challenging, and I often wondered if I would ever rise above the struggles of living hand to mouth. My family had limited means, and my education was cut short due to financial difficulties. All I could do was braid hair and style women to make ends meet. Despite the hard work, my dreams always extended far beyond the salon chair I occupied.
Every evening, I would gaze at government offices in Kampala and admire the women working there. They appeared confident, respected, and secure. I prayed that one day I could hold a similar position, but deep down, it felt impossible. I had no connections, no influential relatives, and no clear roadmap. All I possessed was an intense desire to transform my life and lift my family out of poverty. It was during this time of doubt and struggle that a friend introduced me to Shaba Mangube Doctors.
