From Banana Vendor to Hardware Tycoon! My Journey to Business Success

My name is Denis Kaggwa, and I hail from Masaka, Uganda. If someone had told me five years ago that I’d one day become the owner of one of the largest hardware stores in this region, I wouldn’t have believed it. At the time, I was selling bananas on the streets, barely surviving. Each day, I pushed my wooden cart through the dusty streets of Masaka, praying to sell enough to feed my family. Life was a constant struggle. There were times I couldn’t even make 10,000 shillings a day. I felt stuck, exhausted, and hopeless about ever building a better future.

I had experimented with several small businesses before—selling secondhand clothes, trying out poultry farming—but nothing ever seemed to succeed.
