Equity Bank responds to customer's tech fraud allegations
Equity Bank has embarked on investigations into the tech fraud allegation by one of the customers who took it to social media to express his dissatisfaction with the bank’s fintech security break and laxity of bank staff to assist him which he said culminated loss of over UGX10 Million
In a statement, Equity Bank said, “We are engaging and supporting the affected customer as well as working with the relevant authorities to resolve this matter as quickly as possible" statement reads in part
The statement adds "Whereas we are bound by the client confidentiality rule and therefore cannot disclose customer interactions in the media, we wish to reiterate our message to all our customers that in the event of loss of their phone, they should immediately report to the bank through our 24/7 customer helpline 0312327000,”
In the video, the complainant claims that the people he was given to assist him are dodging him. “I am here crying for my 10 million and there is no one to help me" he said
A Fintech consultant and trainer named withheld said that most people fail to realized that the bank has various partners that they go through to deliver service to the custome including Fintech companies that are between the bank and the customer.
He said that most fraudsters mostly target them and before banks no it, they have cause damage to the transaction.
He urges custome to keep their records safe away from anyother person nearby while transacting.
