The first ever Corporate Run is primed to raise awareness about maternal complications associated with pregnancy and to source for Health Centers IIIs across Uganda’s four regions; Northern, Western, Eastern, and Central.
All the intended proceeds will be channeled towards this cause to provide mama kits to expectant mothers under the theme-line “Run for expectant mothers”.
This run is organized by The Corporate Games Uganda Ltd a registered Sports management company that organizes Corporate Games, Corporate Runs, Corporate team buildings, and kids’ leagues for corporate employees/staff in Uganda with the primary objective of “Inspiring Corporates through Sports”.
The run will take place on Sunday, 13th October 2024 with the start and finishing point at Bishop Cyprian Kihangire, Luzira in Kampala.
There are three categories under which the people will compete in; 2KM (networking run), 5KM and 10KM; with the kits costing Ug.Shs 20,000 per head.
The current statistics reveal that 19 women die every day due to pregnancy complications. Our goal is to support the community by scaling up awareness and mobilizing resources to combat maternal deaths. We aim to attract at least 5,000 runners and walkers. We are seeking private funding from well-wishers, including individual donors, development partners, corporate organizations, and the private sector, through the purchase of running kits, cash donations, in-kind contributions, and more.

Kit Purchase:
The kit fee is UGX 20,000. These can be secured at the Corporate Games head office at Martyrs Mall Kyaliwajjala, and at Total petrol stations in Nakawa, Kitintale, Kireka, Wampewo, and Nsambya.
“We are seeking private funding from well-wishers, including individual donors, development partners, corporate organizations, and the private sector, through the purchase of running kits, cash donations, in-kind contributions, and more” Rumanyika added.

A bandwagon of sponsors and partners are duly confirmed for this run as many others shall follow suit.
Next Media Group (NBS Sport TV and Next Radio), TMR International Hospital, NODE Group (Digital media partners) and Uganda Airlines are already fully on board.
Other activities:
Besides the running; there will also be voluntary HIV testing and counseling services (HCT), safe male circumcision (SMC) for HIV prevention, HIV awareness and prevention information and commodities, blood donation as well as the 8th Corporate Games outing with soccer, volleyball, chess and sack racing.
This will be capped by award ceremony and prize giving.
