Capacity Building: MUBS engages stakeholders to commence sports management courses

In a bid to build more capacity and equip the sports administrators with vast knowledge and skills, Makerere University Business School (MUBS) has a bold and sustainable plan to start a number of sports management courses.

It is upon this rich background that a number of administrators from this institution are engaging the engaging top sports stakeholders.

The latest stakeholders engaged have been officials from the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC).

MUBS delegation that visited the head offices of Uganda Olympic Committee at Lugogo included the Dean of the faculty of Business Administration Associate Professor Rogers Mwesigwa, Robert Mugabe, Vivian Nalubega and Hilary Godfrey Kimbugwe.

Kimbugwe, a tried and tested sports administrator is a fresh graduand with a Bachelors of Sports science and management from Ndejje University.

MUBS intends to introduce 15 short courses into the sports management sector.

These will entail a Masters in Sports Administration, a post graduate diploma in Sports management, a diploma in sports management, among others.

The development comes at an opportune timing when the competitive country’s sports sub-sector calls for full professionalism that necessitates adverse skills, knowledge and contemporary methodologies to match the drastic growing trends.

Already in place, Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has been training the different sports administrators in a number of short courses as certificates and diplomas in sports management & administration.

Also, a number of federations and associations train their own members as the Football Administration and Management (FAMACO) for football cluster, trained by the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA).

There are also a number of refresher courses, training workshops, clinics and seminars from UOC and the respective federations and associations.
