The Bishop of the Antiochian Orthodox catholic church Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka has cautioned citizens not to overspend during the Christmas festive season as this may affect their income basket given the long election spill which the country prepares to encounter early next year.
Kibuuka who doubles as the spiritual director for the Mamre International prayer center Janda Namugongo in Kira Municipality Wakiso district made the remarks 24th December 2025 during an exclusive interview with this website at his Namugongo Janda based church headquarters Kira Municipality Wakiso district.
He pointed out that much as Christmas was about merrymaking and sharing gifts and interacting with friends along communities, they need to be reminded that overspending resources may have a negative impact especially as the country gears up for the national electioneering session effective January 15th 2925.
The clergyman observed that parents and community guardians need to jointly speak to the children on issues of morals given the escalating exposure of children to many negative societal challenges like pornography, criminality, alcoholism, prostitution among the girl child among other vices which can breed insecurity in future.
He tasked the citizens to move out and vote for candidates of their choice whom they believe would bring about positive development as policies they generate effectively drive a clear country’s development agenda.
He congrtaulated all those people that joined them during celebrations marking their ninth anniversary by reflecting on both its significant achievements and the challenges faced throughout the journey.
Kibuuka observed during his homily, he urged the congregation to abandon the culture of complaining and discontent, calling it a root cause of evil, fear, and discouragement, not just in spiritual life but also in broader society.
Over these nine years, we’ve made a conscious decision to move from complaining to loving and serving God with whatever is available,” Bishop Kibuuka said.
“God has been good to us. He hasn’t forsaken us. We’ve acquired over eight acres of land where the church now stands, built a standard church structure, and established schools.
We’ve baptized numerous children, officiated over 200 weddings, and planted 108 AOCC churches across the country. We’ve also ordained several priests and launched our national seminary,” he shared.
