Footballer Herbert Assimwe scooped the Fortbet Real Stars monthly accolade in the football cluster for the month of September 2024.
To claim the award, Assimwe beat off stiff resistance from KCCA’s Saidi Mayanja and NEC midfielder Enock Ssebaggala.
“It is humbling to have won” Asiimwe who also features for Buweekula Ssaza in the Buganda Masaza cup tournament stated at Loza Restaurant and Bar, Kololo on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
Assimwe hailed the team effort for his exploits, confessing it was never a one man show.
“This accolade was really team effort. I thank my fellow players, technical team and support from fans. I dedicate this award to the family of Purple Sharks” he added.

Other top performers for the month of September included Isaac Ariho (woodball), Herbert Matovu (boxing) and the late Charles Muhangi (Motorsport).
Patience Muhangi, the wife to Charles Muhangi received the accolade, hailing the organizers and sponsors of these awards.
“I thank the organizers. The late Charles Muhangi had rallying in his DNA. He was an African champion and left a legacy which you young people should emulate” Patience Muhangi remarked.
Isaac Mukasa, the Executive Director of Real Stars Sports Agency continued to applaud the different media houses for the support accorded to these awards.
In the same vein, Mukasa lauded the sponsors Fortebet and Jude Colour Solutions for always standing with the organizing team since inception.
The awards ceremony was also graced by Police football club chairman Afande Timothy Halango.
These awards recognize the outstanding sports personalities in the month.
The winners are given properly decorated plaques and cash.
