All is set for Cavendish University's 15th Graduation Ceremony this Thursday
LCavendish University (CUU) is set to graduate over 1,050 students during the 15th graduation ceremony scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Speke Resort Munyonyo Convention Centre in Kampala.
During the ceremony CUU, Parents and stakeholders will witness the graduates, including 577 male and 473 female students, representing 55 per cent and 45 per cent respectively from different nationalities.
The ceremony that will be presided over by the university Chancellor and former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Trade, Industry will be flanked by Cooperatives Minister Sanjay Tanna will be the chief guest, while Dr Kosmas Mukirizae, Superintendent of Industry Value Chain Development at the Science, Technology and Innovations Secretariat in the Office of the President, will deliver the commencement address.
The day’s theme will be, “Graduating Global Talent for Employment, Entrepreneurship and Impact.”
Cavendish University Academic Registrar Michael Okopa during a press conference held on Tuesday 18th August ahead of the ceremony, said that the institution was encouraged by the composition of this year’s graduating class.
“The 15th graduation will have 45% female and 55% male. These are only Ugandan nationals but from 33 nationalities,” Okopa said.
The executive director Cavendish University Uganda [CUU] David Mutabanura has called on the government to strengthen the sensitization mechanisms about the artificial intelligence [AI] policy regulatory framework among educational institutions for effective adoption and appreciation.
Mutabanura who spoke at length about the benefits of AI applications encouraged educational institutions to use AI as a tool of researching on potential impactful innovations that drive economic development agenda of the country
He noted that they have established a strong AI policy within their academic framework were all students learn about its advantages .
He noted that over 14,000 students who have passed through the University since its inception 15 years ago are reportedly performing well at their different workspaces.
The director of quality assurance Prof Omolara Oluwaniyi Said they annually offer special academic merit award scholarships to 65 selected students through a competitive open door application system which development had enabled most to emerge as successful students among them Nakawooya Joanita who has emerged as top excelling student.
Meanwhile the university vice chancellor Dr.Olive Sabiiti who was represented by his deputy Olutayo Osunsan and the director quality assurance Prof. Omolara Oluwaniyi said the event will prominently feature their distinguished record in nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit.
