Al Ahly extended their record in the Caf Champions League by edging Tunisia’s Esperance 1-0 to win their 12th title.

The first leg had ended goalless in Tunis with the hosts needing a win to clinch the title.

Rami Rabia scored the winner in the first half at the fully packed Cairo International stadium to help the Red Devils claim the victory that gives them a 1-0 aggregate win over two legs.

Unbeaten

The most successful football club on the continent also finished the entire campaign unbeaten.

Marcel Koller’s men match the tournament record they set in 2005 and their goalkeeper conceding just once and keeping a record nine consecutive clean sheet.

Al Ahly, Esperance, Wydad Casablanca and Mamelodi Sundowns will represent Africa at the expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
