Afrigo Marks milestone Golden Jubilee at Legend of Sound Show with Kofi Olomide.

Following the opening ceremony of the concert to mark the golden jubilee of Afrigo 50-year journey thrilling audience after audience, the time for the milestone celebration was marked on Saturday 16th August 2025 starting with performances of Abeka Band with the Buganda Kingdom anthem, paying homage to Uganda’s rich heritage, and music ballads from renowned Uganda artists including Mesach Semakula, Sweet Kid, Henry Tigan, King Michael, Chance Nalubega, Betty Mpologoma, and others.

The moment came in at 9:00 p.m., when Afrigo Band entered the stage with striking entrance, with all the crew sch as Veterans Moses Matovu, Rachel Magoola, and Joanita Kawalya who performed a mix of timeless hits including Batuuse, Jim, Music, Teri Mubi, Emaali, Olumbe Lw’Obwavu, Obangaina, and Nfunda N’omubi to the reciprocal of fans dancing and singing along, enjoying live music.
France based Congolese famous artist Kofi Olomide took the stage with a high-energy performance of Papa Mobimba and other iconic hits like Senga, Effrakata, and Ekotite, igniting the crowd into unrestrained dancing while pulling his best dance strokes.
Amid excitement, a five-minute fireworks display lit up the skies, marking the culmination of the concert.

Prince David Wassajja, representing the Kabaka of Buganda, and Hon. Nyombi Thembo, Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission, graced the occasion with the Prince conveying the Kabaka’s pride in Afrigo’s monumental contribution to Ugandan music and culture.
“The King would have loved to be with you today, but due to unavoidable circumstances, he delegated me to convey his message. He asked me to tell you that he is extremely proud of Afrigo and the enormous contribution you have made to the art and music of our motherland,” he said
Ali Allybai, CEO of Talent Africa Group, praised Ugandans for embracing the celebration despite the rain, noting that Afrigo at 50 was never going to be just a concert but a historic tribute to resilience, culture, and timeless music. He also promised more spectacular shows in the future.
“From day one, I knew Afrigo at 50 was never going to be just a concert, but a historic celebration of resilience, culture, and timeless music,” he said
