2024 Boys Schools Cricket Week launched In Jinja

The 2024 edition of the annual Boys Schools Cricket Week was launched in Jinja today. The tourism city of Jinja will host the tournament for the third year running.

The tournament will be held from August 24th to 31st with Jinja SSS as the host school.

The annual event will start with the qualifiers that will feature 56 schools from six different regions with the best 18 schools competing in the finals in Jinja. The six sports hubs include Nile Region, Eastern Region, Western Region, South West Region, Northern Region and Central Region.

Jinja SSS are the defending champions having defeated Nyakasura in the final last year. Record winners Busoga College Mwiri and Kololo SSS are expected to offer some stiff competition to Jinja SSS. The annual tournament offers the youngsters a chance to test their skills against their peers but also showcase their talents which could open opportunities for them to feature for the age group teams.

The tournament will be played at six different venues in Jinja; Jinja SSS will be the main oval with games also played at Jinja College (2), Kiira P/S, Busoga College Mwiri and Kakira.

The 18 schools will be hosted at Jinja SS. East Enders Hub is the tournament organizer on behalf of the Uganda Cricket Association.
