SC Villa missed a chance to move closer to table summit after drawing 1-1 with Busoga United at Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru.

The sixteen time champions dominated the early proceedings and got rewarded with a well worked goal through Charles Lwanga in the 19th minute.

The striker stabbed home from close range after Abasi Kyeyune neat cut back to send the away fans into frenzy.

However, Moses Logono equalised seven minutes to time to earn the hosts a deserved point for their resilience in the second half after Villa kept them in the game as they wasted several goal scoring opportunities.

Kyeyune, Lwanga and Ssekiganda were chief culprits in the first half for missing gilt-edged opportunities while substitutes Hakim Kiwanuka and Niwamanya could also have put the game to bed before Logono’s equaliser.

Despite the draw, Villa cut Kitara’s lead to just four points and climbed to second place after the leaders were beaten at NEC.

NEC are joint second with Villa on 40 points but the Jogoos have played two games less.
