NCBA Bank officially announced the full rebrand of the US Kids Golf Tour to NCBA Junior Golf Series making it part of the Annual NCBA Golf Series tournaments sponsored by NCBA Bank in Uganda.

The rebrand marked a significant drive to promote and develop golf among Uganda’s young generation, officially made public at the Uganda Golf Club, Kampala.

Since 2019, NCBA has partnered with the US Kids Golf Tour, a globally recognized junior golf development organization and the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa, to introduce juniors to the sport and nurture their skills.

The NCBA Junior Golf Series is more than just a tournament; it is a platform for young players to develop essential life skills such as social interaction, psychological resilience, and physical fitness.

Our mission is to share the joy of kids learning golf while enhancing their overall development. Through fun-oriented and inclusive junior golf programs where we also sponsor 10 young golfers from underprivileged backgrounds across the country to become star golfers of tomorrow and compete favorably with their counterparts, we aim to improve the standard of junior golf in Uganda and qualify elite junior players for international championship events. The NCBA Junior Golf Series not only showcases the talents of young golfers but also fosters a culture of education, integrity, friendship, discipline, and self-esteem within African communities. We, as NCBA Bank, are committed to promoting diversity in sports and believe that initiatives like these will keep juniors focused, engaged, positively mentored, and financially empowered.

Theodore Van Rooyen lauded NCBA Bank, coaches, the parents and the everyone for the collaborative effort to have successful junior development of golf in Uganda.

“The NCBA Junior Golf series will have a much bigger appeal to the Juniors and demographics. I am assuring the parents that the format will remain the same like before under the US Kids Golf program.” Van Rooyen stated.

Dennis Kawalya, a golfing parent hailed the entire project that will see the expansion of events throughout the calendar year.

“I would like to thank the US Kids team. A few years ago, the Junior golf platform had only three events (UGC, Entebbe Junior Open and NCBA Juniors at Serena). I thank the US Kids program for keeping the juniors busy. I thank NCBA Bank for sponsoring the series. This is something we cannot under look given that NCBA is handling the project from a junior golf level. The junior golf base has grown. Juniors are making friends, families are linking up. The tour, most importantly, has linked Uganda to the international space. We hope to see a lot better more golf going forward. Today, the world has become a global village and golf is a good networking platform.” Kawalya noted.

The NCBA Junior Golf Series features multi-day tournaments and camps tailored for junior golfers aged 5 to 18 years.

Over 70 juniors from various countries such as Canada, Germany, UK, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, UAE, South Sudan and Zimbabwe have already participated in these events, following the format of the US Kids Golf World Championship.

Participants have the opportunity to qualify for prestigious international events such as the Rome Classic in Italy and the Big 5 Championship in South Africa, contributing to their junior world ranking.

As a testament to its commitment to the development of golf, NCBA Bank proudly holds the NCBA Junior Golf Series every year as part of the NCBA Golf Series that happens in the EAC Region.

“Our purpose at NCBA is to inspire greatness, and our support for golf reflects this commitment. We believe not only in empowering our customers to achieve their financial goals by providing exceptional financial services but also in sports development,” Muyobo affirmed.

NCBA Bank stands as a beacon of support for golf across the nation, recognizing its significance as a sport that embodies timeless values and fosters community bonds.
