Uganda’s Ronald Rugumayo Makes History with Monumental Victory at Inaugural Pearl of Africa Golf Series

ENTEBBE, UGANDA – September 20, 2026 — History was written on home soil yesterday as Ugandan professional golfer Ronald Rugumayo captured the 2026 Pearl of Africa Golf Series title, securing Uganda's first-ever Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) victory.

The high-stakes, four-day event concluded on September 19, 2026, at the historic Entebbe Golf Club, marking a monumental milestone as Uganda’s inaugural OWGR-sanctioned tournament under the Sunshine Development Tour East Africa Swing.

Rugumayo delivered a masterclass performance, finishing the tournament at an outstanding 13-under-par 200. He safely held off intense international competition from Malawi’s Paul Adam Chidale and Nigeria’s Godwin Okoko, both of whom finished tied for second place at 9-under-par.
