Uganda Cubs to play The Gambia in battle for World Cup slot

Uganda U17 Men’s National Football Team will have their last shot at qualifying to the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup against The Gambia.
The fixture was confirmed on Monday after the final group games at the ongoing U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Gambia lost their final group game against Tunisia 2-1, a result that confirmed they finished third in Group C with the North African Nation and Senegal progressing to the quarterfinals.
Uganda also ended Group business in third place, losing two games (against Morocco and Zambia) but defeating Tanzania.
It should be noted that Africa has ten slots at this year’s World Cup and all the quarterfinalists at the ongoing AFCON tournament have directly qualified for the global event.
There is also a window for two other slots with the teams that have finished third across all the four groups facing off to complete the number.
Uganda will be up against The Gambia on Thursday while Egypt will take on Angola.
